About the artist

Edgar Fernandez was born in Los Angeles, California in 1990. This young artist then moved to Phoenix where he embraced his Chicano heritage along with a love of street art and hip-hop. These formative years led to him studying art at community college. Since 2013, Fernandez has been sharing his art with the public through gallery showings, public murals, and solo exhibitions as well as providing art workshops for Valley youth.

In his own words: “In this life, there is a journey within my art that resonates a universal message. This message embodies my passion for discovering new forms of expression that derive from my heart, mind, and body. I create not only to fulfill my inner desire but also to manifest seeds of empowerment for the viewer. I have a dream to achieve a legacy as an artist who remained connected to his heart and inspired others to do the same.”

In addition to his obvious appreciation for the ways in which art enriches all facets of our lives, Fernandez also has a deep interest in further exploring the Chicano visual aesthetic. Using contemporary expression, he translates ancient beliefs to a modern audience.
