A three-week class with a progressive curriculum, stagecraft students, are active, creative partners in the musical production at the Tempe Center for the Arts.
Week One- Design Focus
During week one students will learn the elements of design, analyze a script from a designer’s perspective, and present a design proposal to directors.
Week Two- Construction focus
After collaborating with productions directors on a design concept, stagecraft participants will construct tech elements for the production.
Week Thee- Production Focus
For the final week of the class at the Tempe Center for the Arts, participants will assume specialized tech roles (lighting operator, stage manager, etc.) and incorporate their designed elements into the final performance.
Space is limited to 10 participants in this class, and due to the unique challenges of each production, student responsibilities may vary.
About Singin' in the Rain
Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin' in the Rain the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.
Singin' in the Rain has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item but, behind the scenes, things aren't always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career in "talking pictures" without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.
Filled with every memorable moment from the film and a downpour of unforgettable songs, Singin' in the Rain is a delight for all ages.
This class usually sells out, reserve your spot soon.
