Take your character off the screen and into real life! Design your very own exceptional character, in this in-depth look into the fundamentals of Character Creation! Strange and Interesting voices will be encouraged through emotional and vocal directing. While, vivid physical characteristics are explored!
These theatre classes target interests of students ages 6-9 and focus on specific topics that participants explore in depth. Books, films, or tv shows establish the framework for students to develop their own ideas. Participants do not need to be familiar with the source material to enjoy a course. Lessons for this age group concentrate on acting and performance skills in addition to exploration of theme and story. The week culminates with an informal sharing of material developed and performed by the students. Classes accommodate a variety of skill levels, and students do not need previous drama experience to succeed in and enjoy this course.
Garrett WR Hicks has been a part of theatre his whole life. Recently, he taught Acting Enrichment courses for the children of the Higley Unified School District in between his five years as a teaching artist for Childsplay, Inc. Garrett began his journey through the arts as an actual student of Childsplay Summer Academy, with his musical performance in Mary Poppins. Recently he started a journey into doing short films. He can’t wait to instill the same love of theatre he gained from Childsplay into his future students.
