Danté X Johnson first joined the Childsplay ensemble as an intern in the summer of 2022 and is now returning as a teaching artist assistant! Danté is a 19 year old musical theatre performer, a self-taught guitarist of over six years and an inspiring composer. Offstage Danté uses their free time to create original musicals. Some of their most cherished roles include ‘Barfee’ in “Spelling Bee” at Mesa Encore Theatre (MET), ‘Javert’ in "Les Misérables," and ‘Donkey’ in "Shrek The Musical," both with Places! Productions. As a member of the Places! Productions’ show choir, ‘Presto,’ Danté also contributes their skills and enthusiasm to directing ‘Ping,’ the elementary school show choir for Places!. They placed 1st in the 2023 National Student Auditions for Musical Theater, Upper High School Musical TBB Voices category. Danté dedicates their performances to the fight against cancer.
