Crandal is a freshman in high school. Her father died in Afghanistan last year, forcing her mother to work two jobs to make ends meet. Fortunately, Crandal still has the support system of her Nanna, who has tons of time on her hands, a house full of books, and lots of affection. When Nanna’s health begins to suffer, Crandal realizes she may need to begin the difficult process of trusting others outside her central support system. This story of a teenager’s search for identity in today’s American high school experience will remind you that your family isn’t the only support in your corner.
