Silent film performers created iconic characters who still make us laugh -without saying a single word! Join us as we explore the timeless art of physical comedy. Students will practice turning their antics into scenes worthy of lighting up the silent screen.
In addition to the engaging theme, this week students will learn more about physicalization. Training in mime, tableau, gesture, and expression help performers discover how to express character and story physically. Learning how to communicate these with the body is one of the primary tools for an actor, and class with include activities to help young performers develop these essential skills.
"Playmakers" classes engage body, voice, and imagination through a fast-paced curriculum of theatre exercises. Each course blends a favorite theme with specific acting skill instruction, making each class unique. Playmakers may be repeated multiple times with new content, new challenges, and new opportunities for growth. You do not need to have taken previous classes to succeed in this course.
